Pray, Love, Reflect

Isn't it funny how we open up to certain people throughout our lifetime?  We open our feelings, thoughts, and emotions to people for no apparent reason, and we call these people friends.  These friends have the ability to cause a range of emotions from happiness to sadness, and have the ability to cause worry and aggravation. Many times we open up to these people just to be let down simply because of our sinful nature.  We allow many circumstances to pull us away from what matters the most such as the love of family and most of all the love of God.  Situations such as these are just one of the aspects of life that can have this tugging effect on our lives.  Other scenarios include work, school ,and relationships.  Working in retail has been one of the most indefinite and engrossing parts of my life thus far, but also one of the most fulfilling and enlightening.  Through having such a demanding job during the holiday season, along with school and trying to maintain a healthy relationship with my FiancĂ©e , it has helped to unfold what is truly important in life.  Relationships throughout life are nothing more than a double sided care for one another, and without both of these sides a relationship cannot last.  These relationships are not worth the worry, just as our jobs and schooling are not worth the worry.  Embrace who is willingly in your life, love the ones you have conflict with, and never give up on someone.  Our God has the power to change, redeem, and replenish, just as he has done in every Christ followers life. Wisdom comes from trial and error throughout ones life, and with every trial comes more wisdom.  When it comes down to the wire, we are called to love the ones in our life and pray for the ones that aren't, and have the faith that goes along with all of this.  Pray, Love, Reflect.

"Labor" Day

On a day such as labor day, a person has time to unwind and have the relaxation and reflection that many do not have time for due to their jobs.  This is a day that has a strange adverse meaning from the name, considering labor day is usually associated with rest. Although this is the reasoning behind many American schools and companies being close on this holiday, we as humans, along with everything throughout life, turn this day into a busy, rest free time.  With cook outs, parties, and "get together's" that take a whole day of planning, many times we accredit the title "Labor Day." As Christians we are supposed to serve Christ in all we do, and labor day is a great opportunity of reflection to ask yourself: Am I truly working for His glory? Am I willing to go to the ends of this earth to proclaim the soul saving Gospel of Jesus Christ? Am I willing to sell everything I own to go and serve Him? Now don't get me wrong, I do not believe this is his call for everyone, but we are called to have this amount of faith.  Everything can be done to the glory of God, the question is, are we as the body of Christ doing it? True rest is found in faith in Jesus Christ, so lets spend this Labor Day doing what it was created for, resting in the word of our Almighty God.

Life is Beautiful

In an attempt to complete a ten page paper, do and reply to four discussion boards, and finish a biology lab all in one night, my sanity did not seem that it was a high priority.  Trying to make sure there is enough money for the week, there is enough gas in both vehicles, and still making time for the women I love, it almost seemed impossible.  Don't even think about throwing in family and friends.  The beginning of the semester is one of the most stressful and overwhelming times in a college students life, and it is extremely difficult to get a grip on things.  During these times, making time for biblical reflection and prayer is one of the most difficult things to do.  Through all of the boisterous, hectic aspects that were seeming to overtake my life, I was blessed enough to experience one of the most surreal, eye-opening events.  Although I am an older sibling, I had never truly experienced an event as beautiful as the birth of a baby.  I was blessed enough to experience the birth of a new baby cousin, Rhett Phillip Williams, on August 16th. Seeing the supremacy and depth of the birth of a new life, being there when this new life opens their eyes to see light for the first time, this was truly astonishing.  Seeing how life is stitched together into a perfect, beautiful being that was fabricated from the ultimate creator, these are the experiences that make the tedious problems of life worth while.  The birth of a baby, a wedding dance, an unspoken prayer, a new years toast, a family dinner, these are the things that truly matter in our lives.

"Life In An Eggshell"

Wouldn't it be great if we could find all the questions and meanings of life in a descriptive, disbursed book that told us what to do and when to do it? A book that would give us a "heads up" when things are about to take a unexpected turn for the better or worse?  Unfortunately and obviously there is not.  These ups and downs are things that are faced by all of humanity and makes up this beautiful roller-coaster that's called life, and its uncertainty is never ending.  This is life in an eggshell, happy yet sad,  excited yet disappointed, peaceful yet angry.  We learn only through the mistakes of others and through biblical truths, creating a hope that maybe, just maybe, we can detour or lighten the despair when ones life takes a wrong turn.  One can only lean and depend on the ultimate creator who created every one of us, and everything in our world.  The one who knows each of us from the inside, out, more than anyone else.  The depth of His love is incomprehensible, and yet we still question his will.
